It goes without saying that what we know today in interior design and decor is as a result of the work done by creative geniuses of the past. If you’re looking at your furniture thinking that it’s completely unique, think again, it’s more a creation of an evolved piece of work designed years ago. I took a stroll to the Museum of Sydney to take a look at past influencers, including Marion Best, Steven Kalmar, Paul Kafkar whose works spanned the 1930’s to 1970’s. Here is an overview of what can be seen, a mixture of different styles of design and decor that still has an impact today.
It’s pretty amazing, right? When looking at these pieces, did you have a similar thought that they feel both old-school and yet current? And that really what is considered old-fashioned and outdated can make a comeback as cool, edgy and a must-have. It doesn’t seem like much has changed in roughly 50 years since these were in style. So hey, if you have an item that you consider outdated and ancient, don’t be so quick to throw it out. Instead revamp, re-jig and re-purpose.
See you next time 😉
